Christmas Holidays an Occasion of Jovial Reunion
Christmas holidays bring at least one of my daughters home and that is the first reason for my excitement. Schools will be kept closed for 10 days and there will be Christmas Fairs in the city. The Government will organize stage shows and other entertainments in various centres in the city. So I can expect some relatives also from rural areas for a visit. Groups of young men from the Christian Churches near to our house will visit each and every house in our neighbourhood, singing carols headed by a Christmas Father, starting even one month before Christmas. They will be given snacks and money in return for their blessings. Our Christian friends will bring cakes for us. So Christmas is a long-awaited occasion for merry making for all of us.
Nutritious Tapioca Recipe
Today I made a new dish for my dinner. It was kind of pancake but not with usual ingredients. I am very much interested in experimenting with dishes and my whole family encourages me in such endeavours. We had some tapioca from our land and I decided to make it nutritious by adding some special things to it. Tapioca is predominantly carbohydrate and so it should be fortified with some nutrients. I ground the pieces of tapioca with some brown rice, sprouted green gram, ginger, garlic, fenugreek, asafoetida, curry leaves, green chilies, bulb onions and some salt. Then made pancakes with that batter, rich in protein, vitamins and minerals using very little oil. The asafoetida, ginger and garlic were included so that the starch won't upset the stomach in any way. Everybody liked the recipe and enjoyed it well.

My Life
I don't have many lofty goals but they are mine and they are important to me. I have always wanted to be a professional writer. I often get distracted by life, kids, work, home, husband and so on. I often start novels and then start a few pages or a few chapters in them. Someday I hope to finish a novel. If it got published the more the better but I just want to finish one that I start. I am writing one right now and it is my life goal to finish this project and send it to some publishing companies for review.
A New Love
I have very eclectic taste in music, always enjoying Baroque classical music and church hymns but then having an added "current love." For example, I used to adore certain New Age music, especially Mannheim Steamroller and Daniel Kobialka. Nowadays, though, I am on my first kick with country music ever in my life. Last year was my first season watching "American Idol" and I picked Scotty McCreery from the finalists' pack early on. His album "Clear as Day" is a real gem and I enjoy everything on it - with the exception, actually, of the cover song. "I Love You This Big" is now one of my favorite tunes of all time, and I have used it as a Lenten song for meditation because I imagine Jesus singing it from the Cross. Scotty just won the Country Music Award for best new artist and I am grateful to have learned to appreciate a genre that is new to me through him.
Johnny Cash is great!
I love any and all music by Johnny Cash and have for a long time. It all started when my dad bought one of his CDs to play at home, which was the first time I'd really paid attention to his music. I loved how some of the songs told stories and how others told of true love and heartache that I could relate to. His songs range from funny to sad, and I like all those emotions on one CDE. Johnny Cash died my senior year of high school. We heard about it in class, and I literally got tears in my eyes because of it. He was such a great man who stood up for what he believed in.
